Smith Valuation Consultants ( Smithval ) was founded by Mike Smith, SR/WA, MAI, to continue a tradition of providing trusted, high-level, independent real estate appraisal and advisory services across northeastern Colorado from the Smithval headquarters in Greeley, Colorado.

Mike has appraised countless properties in northeastern Colorado during 15 years of professional real property appraisal at Foster Valuation Company (2005-2020), where he was a partner and the Director of Appraisal Services. Mike launched Smithval in 2020.

He is a member of the Appraisal Institute and holds the MAI designation, which is the highest professional designation awarded by the Institute. Mike serves on the board of directors for the Colorado Chapter of the Appraisal Institute.

Mike is a Senior Member of the International Right of Way Association (IRWA) and holds the SR/WA designation.

He is a member of the Colorado Association of Real Estate Appraisers (CAREPA) and the Colorado Association of Real Estate Appraisers (CAREA).

Mike is licensed in Colorado as a Certified General Appraiser. He also holds holds the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) certification as a qualified appraiser for CDOT projects. He has been a qualified appraiser for CDOT since 2010, and has completed the CDOT Appraisal Review Course.
